ABOUT BRITTNEY
Just once since her elite career
started has Brittney Reese not recorded the furthest long
jump in the country for either indoor or outdoor competition
(she was ranked No. 2 in the USA in 2011). Along with three
World Indoor and Outdoor Championships gold medals, Reese
has recorded the furthest jump in the world indoors in 2010
and outdoors both in 2009 and 2011. Also active in the
community, during the 2011 Thanksgiving season, Reese
purchased 100 turkeys to be given away to help the homeless
surrounding her current residence of Gulfport, Miss. Only
Jackie Joyner-Kersee and Marion Jones have jumped further in
American history in the long jump. At Gulfport High School
Reese was also Mississippi’s 2004 Gatorade Player of the
Year for track.
